First Family Not Finished in UFC, Royler Gracie Says

Living and working and San Diego, four-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Royler Gracie (Pictured) will not be in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for UFC 134 on Aug. 27. His brother, UFC hall of famer Royce Gracie, will appear at the event as a guest, but his appeals to compete one more time inside the Octagon fell on deaf ears with UFC President Dana White. However, Royler, in a recent interview with Sherdog.com, said he does not feel the Gracies are finished in the UFC:

“Dana White is a businessman. The UFC is a big business that moves a lot of money in the city in which its events take place. It was not a good deal for the UFC to have Royce fight in Rio. Maybe it would be better to line him up for a U.S.-based show. He would fill the arena easily. White isn’t belittling Royce; he actually likes him and our family a lot. I also believe Renzo [Gracie] will have another shot, and Roger Gracie will be on another level if he beats [Muhammed] “King Mo” Lawal [in Strikeforce on Sept. 10].”
