HBO Boxing Weigh-in Results: Luis Ortiz, Malik Scott Ready to Fight

HBO will broadcast a special edition of Boxing After Dark as the action will come live from the beautiful city of Monte Carlo, Monaco. The cable giant will air the battle between heavyweights Luis Ortiz and Malik Scott beginning at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT from within the Salle des Etoiles, with a tape-delayed rebroadcast later in the evening.

After a terrific amateur career that saw the Cuban winning several gold medals, Ortiz (25-0, 22 KOs) has been tearing it up in the pro ranks. He flattened longtime veterans Monte Barrett and took out young contender Bryant Jennings and most recently, he knocked out two-time world heavyweight title challenger Tony Thompson in the sixth. At the weigh-ins on Friday, “King Kong” officially clocked in at 239.5 pounds.

Scott (38-2-1, 13 KOs) has won his two bouts since being knocked out by Deontay Wilder. The Philadelphia native has been inactive for over a year, with his last bout happening in October 2015 where he out-pointed Thompson. Scott was slightly heavier than his foe as he came in at 246.4 pounds.

Jamie McDonnell weighed 118 pounds for his WBA bantamweight title defense against Liborio Solis, who came in at 117.7 while WBA super featherweight champ Jason Sosa checked in at 128.8 pounds for his defense against Stephen Smith, who tipped the scale at 130.
