Podcast: Johny Hendricks, Jonathan Tweedale
The Sherdog Radio Network was live Friday with another edition of
"Beatdown." Joining TJ De Santis and Sherdog.com founder Jeff
Sherwood was UFC welterweight contender Johny
Hendricks and Nick Diaz's
attorney, Jonathan Tweedale.
Hendricks has done his job again and again. Following another win at 170 pounds the Team Takedown product has been officially dubbed the No. 1 contender. The two-time Division I wrestling champion joined TJ and Jeff to talk about a potential fight with champion Georges St. Pierre, his recent victory over Carlos Condit and if he feels a St Pierre title fight is coming this year.
Tweedale is crying foul. The attorney for former Strikeforce welterweight champion Diaz is pointing out what he feels are flaws on behalf of the Quebec commission at UFC 158. One of those flaws is allegedly allowing Georges St. Pierre to weigh in at 170.9 pounds for a title fight. Under the unified rules in mixed martial arts a fighter involved in a championship affair may not weigh in over the contracted weight at all. Tweedale describes the night of weigh ins and what he feels was done to deny his client a fair title match.
TJ and Jeff discuss other topics in mixed martial arts, take listener calls, and wrap up the SRN's two-week long Nick Diaz impression contest. Listen to “Beatdown” here
