Regis Prograis to Fight Aaron Herrera in ShoBox Main Event on March 25

Unbeaten junior welterweight prospect Regis Prograis will return to action against Aaron Herrera on March 25 in the main event of a ShoBox tripleheader. The event will be televised live on Showtime at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT from inside the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Okla.

Prograis (16-0, 13 KOs) has been making waves quietly throughout his ascent up the 140-pound rankings. The New Orleans native has been feasting on regional opposition since turning pro but his two most recent wins came against unbeaten prospects Abel Ramos and Amos Cowart.

“I can't wait to fight on March 25,” Prograis stated. “I’m ready to put on another great show for the fans and demonstrate how I continue to improve as a fighter. I know I have a tough opponent, but I'm ready to go out and perform. Aaron Herrera is a rugged veteran and I know there will be some fireworks.”

Herrera (29-4-1-1, 18 KOs) is coming off a decision loss to Pedro Campa but the Mexican has been around the block for a long time. Though he hasn’t taken on any elite foes in his career, he cut his teeth on the local Mexican circuit, arguably the toughest in all of boxing.

“I’m very excited at the opportunity to showcase my talent on the ShoBox series,” Herrera said. “I’ve watched a few fights of Regis on YouTube. He’s a good fighter, but I am a better one. I feel fighting in Mexico has given me the upper hand. Mexican fighters are tough. I have fought better opposition and I’m the more experienced fighter.

“I’ve been looking for an opportunity like this,” Herrera added. “I need a good breakout fight for the fans to see me in action. I am a proud Mexican fighter and on March 25 the fans will see how real Mexicans fight like, and Prograis will know who Aaron Herrera is.”

Also slated for the televised card will be a quartet of undefeated prospects. Ivan Baranchyk (9-0, 8 KOs) will square off against Nicholas Givhan (16-0-1, 10 KOs) in an eight-round junior welterweight scrap in the co-feature. The opening bout of the telecast will see Ivan Golub (10-0, 8 KOs) taking on fellow welterweight Marlon Aguas (9-0, 6 KOs) in an eight-rounder.
