Mike Whitman Sep 7, 2011
The UFC will put forth one last collaborative effort with Spike TV
to close out 2011when the cable channel broadcasts a “Prelims Live”
special prior to UFC
141 on Dec. 30.
Sherdog.com confirmed the news Wednesday following an initial report from MMAJunkie.com. As usual, the UFC 141 prelim broadcast is expected to air one hour prior to the start of the evening’s pay-per-view.
Little is currently known about the fight card, though the UFC recently announced that a blockbuster heavyweight matchup between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem will headline the proceedings at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. No bouts other than the main event have been announced by the promotion as of yet.
Prior to UFC 141, Spike TV will air prelims for UFC 135 through 139, with the exception of UFC 138. The status of UFC 140’s undercard broadcast is currently unknown. UFC 138 will be headlined by a middleweight scrap between Chris Leben and Mark Munoz; the Nov. 5 event will go down at LG Arena in Birmingham, England, and will air via same-day tape delay on Spike.
