Sherdog’s Top 10: Fastest Submissions in UFC History
No. 1
UFC 6
July 14, 1995 | Casper, Wyoming
Not a single fight at UFC 6 went the distance, but Taktarov’s clash with Macias stands out -- like a sore thumb, some might say. Just nine seconds into the match, Macias tapped to a guillotine choke from “The Russian Bear,” the result raising eyebrows almost immediately at the Casper Events Center. The fact that the two men shared the same manager only gave credence to talk of the fight being a work. Macias had struck He-Man Ali Gipson into submission during a reserve bout and replaced Patrick Smith in the tournament. A muay Thai practitioner who was giving up 20 pounds to Taktarov, he shot out of his corner at the start, swooped in on an ill-advised single-leg and wandered right into the fight-ending guillotine.
