Korean Top Team’s Tae Hyun Bang banked an extra $100,000 for his work at UFC 174, earning both “Fight of the Night” and “Performance of the Night” for his third-round knockout of Kajan Johnson in a preliminary lightweight contest at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C., on Saturday night.
While Johnson, who took home $50,000 in defeat, had some success with takedowns and a solid jab, Bang eventually put a lasting stamp on the fight thanks to his punching power. The Sengoku veteran set the tone by dropping Johnson with a left hook in round one, but his best was yet to come.

In the third round, Bang caught a Johnson kick and countered with a massive right hand that sent the Tristar Gym product tumbling to the canvas. Bang landed in full mount, but referee John McCarthy intervened at the 2:03 mark of the frame before any more damage could be done.
Elsewhere, Kiichi Kunimoto earned the evening’s other “Performance of the Night” award for his first-round submission of “TUF: Brazil” alum Daniel Sarafian. Kunimoto landed a takedown within the bout’s first two minutes, escaped a guillotine choke and eventually scrambled to his Brazilian opponent’s back. Shortly thereafter, the Pancrase veteran secured a rear-naked choke and elicited a tapout 2:52 into the opening stanza.
