UFC on Fox 8 Gets Demetrious Johnson-John Moraga, Miesha Tate-Liz Carmouche
Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will defend his gold against John Moraga in the UFC on Fox 8 main event.
UFC officials announced the matchup Wednesday evening, also revealing that Miesha Tate will collide with Liz Carmouche at the July 27 event. The show takes place at Seattle’s Key Arena and will also feature a pair of pivotal welterweight contests, as Rory MacDonald collides with Jake Ellenberger and Robbie Lawler faces Tarec Saffiedine.

Moraga, meanwhile, enters his shot at Johnson riding a seven-fight winning streak. The 29-year-old made his Octagon debut last August, brutally finishing former Tachi Palace Fights champ Ulysses Gomez and following that triumph with a third-round submission of Chris Cariaso on Dec. 29 at UFC 155.
Tate saw a guaranteed title shot slip through her fingers on April 13, when she was finished by Cat Zingano at the “TUF 17” finale. The former Strikeforce champion had a six-fight winning streak snapped just over one year ago, when she relinquished her title to Ronda Rousey via first-round submission.
Carmouche became the first woman to challenge Rousey for the UFC women’s bantamweight crown on Feb. 23. Though “Girl-Rilla” gave the champion an early scare by taking her back, Carmouche was nevertheless finished by Rousey’s trademark armbar with just 11 seconds remaining in the opening round of their UFC 157 main event.
