Bellator Expresses Interest in Standout Wrestler Steve Mocco
Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney, on “Beatdown,”
discussing whether he is interested in signing former Olympic
wrestler Steve
Mocco:
“How could I not be? Especially for an organization like ours. I could dance around the issue and say, ‘I haven’t really given a lot of thought to Steve,’ but given what he was able to accomplish at the collegiate level in wrestling and given his level of dominance and his desire now and his 100-percent commitment to transitioning to MMA, of course you’re looking at a guy like that. He’s got tool after tool that could conceptually translate very nicely into a mixed martial arts cage. … But he’s never actually thrown a punch or been kneed in the face yet in a competitive mixed martial arts fight. So we’ll see. We’ll see what happens with him.”
