Closed-off Events Are Right up Karate Combat’s Alley

Karate Combat’s unique approach to holding events seems like the go-to method of putting something together during a pandemic. Think about it: secret locations, closed-off events, and fighters willing to scrap are the ingredients needed to have some sort of action in combat sports these days.

Obviously, there is safety to think about. However, certain states like Florida have already deemed sports as essential, so this could be the perfect time for Karate Combat to grab combat sports fans looking for something to watch. At least, that’s what Karate Combat co-founder Rob Bryan told Reuters. "There’s been a big push to fill this void and combat sports are fun to watch and we’re presenting combat sports in a way that the younger demographic loves," Bryan said.

The presentation Bryan refers to is the visuals and video game-themed presentation that fans of Karate Combat have grown accustomed to. The last season was featured on UFC Fight Pass, Fite TV, and many other streaming platforms, but it seems Karate Combat will be taking a different approach for its upcoming season. It's said to borrow from a reality television-based format. The promotion's last event featured Karate Combat's first champion, Edgars Skrivers, and was the first event from its “secret location” known as KC-1.

The promotion is also looking for a distribution deal for Karate Combat. Marshawn Lynch is said to have signed on as one of the promotions celebrity hosts along with Bas Rutten and Bryan Callen. Karate Combat’s past events can currently be viewed over at Karate.com.
