Top Reasons to Catch ONE on Prime Video 20

Chatri Sityodtong’s ONE Championship organization enjoys broken glass ceilings, whether it does the breaking or assists someone else in doing so.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the company will feature an all-female fight card with ONE on Prime Video 20 this Friday at historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok. There, nine bouts are set to shine the global spotlight on accomplished practitioners in mixed martial arts, submission grappling, muay thai and kickboxing. Fireworks are a virtual lock from a veritable cornucopia of competitors from various backgrounds and disciplines.

Here are three reasons to catch ONE on Prime Video 20:

1. Unifying Forces

Incumbent champion Janet Todd and interim titleholder Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom are scheduled to determine the fate of the undisputed women’s atomweight kickboxing crown when their unification bout takes center stage in the main event. Todd, 38, holds a 7-2 record across her nine appearances in ONE. However, the Hermosa Beach, California, native has not competed since she wound up on the wrong side of a unanimous decision against Allycia Hellen Rodrigues in a failed bid to become a two-discipline titleholder at ONE on Prime Video 8 nearly a year ago. The setback snapped Todd’s seven-fight winning streak. Phetjeeja, meanwhile, has been nothing short of a revelation since she joined the ONE roster. The 22-year-old Thai star has rattled off five straight victories in the Singapore-based promotion, finishing four of them. Phetjeeja struck interim gold in December, when she was awarded a five-round unanimous verdict over Anissa Meksen at ONE Friday Fights 46.

2. Eight-Limbed Artistry

Not to be overshadowed, Rodrigues puts her women’s atomweight muay thai title on the line against Cristina Morales in the five-round co-headliner. The 25-year-old reigning champion marches into the ring having won two of her three bouts under the ONE banner. Operating out of the Phuket Fight Club in Thailand, Rodrigues has not suited up since she succumbed to a volley of third-round punches and elbows from Swedish wunderkind Smilla Sundell in a battle for the women’s strawweight muay thai championship on Sept. 29. On the other side of the equation, Morales has yet to establish a firm foothold in ONE. She bounced back from a 2021 defeat to Meksen with a technical knockout of Anna Jaroonsak in the first round of their Nov. 3 encounter at ONE on Prime Video 16. Morales, 31, was an International Sport Kickboxing Association titleholder before she elected to link arms with ONE.

3. Styles Clash

Current Shooto women’s atomweight titleholder Chihiro Sawada gets back on the ONE radar for the first time in more than a year, a compelling clash-of styles attraction marking her return. An accomplished amateur wrestler, she tackles Jihin Radzuan in a 115-pound showcase on the strength of a six-fight winning streak. The 26-year-old Sawada last fought under the Shooto flag on Dec. 2, when she put away Miku Nakamura with a first-round armbar. The Abe Ani Combat Club trains under the great Megumi Fujii in Tokyo. Radzuan, meanwhile, found her way to ONE back in 2018. The Malaysian kickboxer last saw action at ONE Friday Fights 35, where she rebounded from a unanimous decision loss to promotional pillar Stamp Fairtex and submitted Jennifer Olsim with a triangle armbar in the third round of their Sept. 29 tilt. Radzuan, 25, has won four of her past five bouts.
