An injury to Hector Lombard has derailed a welterweight matchup with potential title implications.
Lombard has been forced to withdraw from his bout against Dong Hyun Kim due to an undisclosed injury, UFC President Dana White announced via Twitter on Tuesday. The 170-pound matchup was set to take place Aug. 23 in Macau as part of UFC Fight Night “Bisping vs. Le.”

The announcement comes in the midst of UFC promoting the event this week in Hong Kong with headliners Michael Bisping and Cung Le.
Kim, 32, has won four straight fights and kicked off last year with a one-sided decision win over hard-punching Siyar Bahadurzada. He went on to knock out Erick Silva in a wild matchup last October and then produced a surefire “Knockout of the Year” nominee on March 1, when “Stun Gun” stopped John Hathaway with a sublime spinning elbow to close the UFC’s last visit to Macau.
Woodley is fresh off a disappointing decision loss to Rory MacDonald at UFC 174, but “The Chosen One” is never one to shy away from an opportunity. Following his TKO victory against Carlos Condit at UFC 171 in March, the American Top Team product questioned the choice by Zuffa officials to book Robbie Lawler against Matt Brown in a No. 1 contender’s bout instead of him.
