UFC 243 Medical Suspensions: Al Iaquinta Faces Potential 180-Day Term



Three rounds with Dan Hooker took its toll on Al Iaquinta.

The former lightweight title challenger is facing a potential 180-day layoff following his unanimous decision loss to Hooker in the UFC 243 co-main event this past Saturday. Iaquinta must have x-ray clearance for injuries to his left tibia, fibula and foot before he can compete again. Hooker, meanwhile, will be sidelined 30 days for left knee lacerations with 21 days of no contact.

The Professional Boxing and Combat Sports Board of Victoria released medical suspensions mixedmartialarts.com, the official record keeper for the ABC. Everyone who competed on the card received at least a seven-day mandatory suspension.

UFC 243 took place at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne on Saturday and saw Israel Adesanya become the promotion’s undisputed middleweight champion with a second-round technical knockout of Robert Whittaker in the evening’s headliner. Whittaker has been suspended 60 days due to a KO defeat, with 45 days of no contact.

Iaquinta was the only fighter from UFC 243 to receive a potential six-month term.

Jamie Mullarkey: 30-day medical suspension (scans were negative), 21 days no contact

Zarah Fairn dos Santos: 30-day medical suspension for left eyelid laceration, 21 days no contact

Nadia Kassem: 45-day medical suspension with 30-days no contact (scans and X-rays were negative)

Khalid Taha: 30-day medical suspension (no reason given), 21 days no contact

Bruno Silva : 45-day medical suspension for left eye laceration, 30 days no contact
