On Monday, a video surfaced of the former Ultimate Fighting Championship two-division champion spitting in a man’s face outside Caffe Al Teatro in Wynn Las Vegas and Encore. The incident began after shouts of “Let’s go Khabib” can be overheard. McGregor then turns and walks toward a group of people and spits in one man’s face before walking away. The Irish star appears to be surrounded by security at the time.
“I spit in your face,” McGregor then says. “What’d you do?
Nothing.”
Exactly when the incident occurred is currently unclear.
The video comes after McGregor tweeted and deleted a slur-filled rant directed at Khabib Nurmagomedov last week. McGregor has a long history of feuding with Khabib and his family, which dates back to their championship fight at UFC 229 in 2018. McGregor repeatedly insulted Khabib leading up to their bout, and though he lost via fourth-round submission, the “Notorious” has continued to take shots at his Dagestani rival over the years.
Tensions resurfaced following PFL Road to Dubai, when McGregor ripped Paul Hughes for a respectful exchange with Khabib and his team following a loss to Usman Nurmagomedov in the evening’s main event. Khabib then responded by calling McGregor a “rapist and drug addict.”
The SBG Ireland standout has also dealt with his share of legal trouble in recent months. McGregor was recently found civilly liable for a sexual assault in Ireland and had another lawsuit filed against him for an alleged assault at an NBA Finals game in 2023.
While his out-of-the-cage antics continue to escalate, McGregor’s fighting career has stagnated. His proposed return against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 was scrapped due to a broken toe, and there has been no timetable established for his Octagon return. McGregor himself teased a potentially lucrative boxing match against Logan Paul in India, but there has been nothing concrete regarding that bout as of yet. The Dublin native last competed at UFC 264 in July 2021, when he suffered a broken leg in a technical knockout loss against Dustin Poirier.
